About Silver for Gold
Silver for Gold was created by EcoGenX Agricultural Recycling with the help of Small But Mighty SK. The team of EcoGenX was compelled to start Silver for Gold when a child in their community was diagnosed with cancer. The team got ahold of Small But Mighty SK, asking how they could help, and the idea grew from there. Silver for Gold collects pop can tabs from across the country to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer. The Annual Gold Walk, held in September in Saskatoon by Small But Mighty SK, is the mass collection day for all the tabs collected by families, businesses, and individuals. The tabs are then hauled to a JK Metals in Broadview, SK, by EcoGenX and 100% of the money is donated to Childhood Cancer Canada.
Gold Walk 2017
Silver for Gold was founded in May 2017 so the 2017 Gold Walk was our first year collecting tabs. It was a huge success, raising 1 MILLION tabs from across the province. Huge thank you to everyone who was involved and helped get the word out to family and friends near and far to SAVE YOUR TABS!
Gold Walk 2019
2019 did not fail to impress, once again DOUBLING our tab collection numbers. Our volunteers collected 4 MILLION tabs for the 2019 year. We would like to send a huge THANK-YOU to everyone involved in spreading the word about Silver for Gold. Keep collecting your tabs! We are making a difference.
Gold Walk 2018
The 2018 Gold Walk was our second year collecting tabs and we DOUBLED our collection from 2017, raising 2 MILLION tabs collected from coast to coast. The number of volunteers who stepped up to collect and transport tabs was phenomenal and we thank every single person who dedicated their time to help us fight childhood cancer.
Gold Walk 2020
This year, due to COVID-19, the Annual Gold Walk was canceled. Our team had to get creative in collecting tabs and donations to keep the momentum going. For the 2020 season, Silver for Gold selected 6 dedicated hosts to hold a "collection day" for the tabs in their area. Thank you so much to the hosts as well as everybody who brought in their tabs. We will have a final tally later on in the year.

Dallon Leger (Owner of EcoGenX) - Dallon was the brains behind the idea to create Silver for Gold. In addition to running a new business and working on the farm, Dallon makes time to run Silver for Gold and turn it into a success.
Brooke Switzer (Regional and Urban Planning Student) - Brooke is a full-time student at the University of Saskatchewan. She dedicates time to creating posters, the website, Facebook posts, and volunteering at the Gold Walk to make Silver for Gold run smoothly.
Our hopes for Silver for Gold is that it will continue to grow, with more and more people donating their tabs from all across Canada and learning about the horrors of childhood cancer and the importance of donating time and money into research. Children are the future, and we need to invest in this to find better cures that are less harsh on children's growing bodies.
